Cosatto Eco Statement
At Cosatto we have thirteen values that guide how we do things. ‘Do the right thing ’ is one of the most important. It’ s about honesty, integrity and being nice to people. Above all, it’ s about doing the right thing for our planet. Being sustainable is a never-ending job for a company that actually makes things but we are trying to do as much as we can, as fast as we can, for everyone ’ s sake. Reduce
We banned single-use cutlery, plates and plastic water bottles for meetings, team lunches and events. It all adds up. We installed a massive solar panel system in 2016 and this has been helping reduce our grid power usage ever since by saving over 32,000kgs of CO2 since then!
Recycle
Back in 2019 we introduced fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles. Currently on 86% of our range and climbing, we ’ re working on switching to them across all our products. As these fabrics are more expensive, we ’ re mindful of keeping the prices as low as possible in the current climate - but we ’ll get there as soon as we can. For several years now, zero waste has gone into landfill. Each year we recycle approximately 8 tonnes of cardboard and 18 tonnes of metal. We even recycle the coffee grinds from our team coffee machines into fire logs. After everything that can be recycled is taken out, the remainder is incinerated in a special process that generates energy through steam. Even the remaining ashes get used, as a mix for concrete in the construction industry.
Reuse
We are one of the first brands in the baby hardware industry to introduce a product buy-back scheme. The ‘Bish Bash Bosh Buy Back’ scheme refurbishes prams and travel systems that are no longer needed, so they get a second and even third life. The Cosatto after-sales team use a specially designed reusable ‘Pack-it-Pod’ to transport products safely to and from our service centre. They are used for at least 12 return trips, saving tonnes of wasted cardboard.
OUR PLANET PLEDGE
As a company, we recognise the urgent need to tackle environmental challenges and to take action to reduce our own carbon footprint, conserve resources and promote sustainability. From encouraging more recycling and less energy usage, to finding more sustainable packaging, transportation and manufacturing methods - our Eco Club will lead the charge and our dedicated team will make sure the changes happen. We believe that involving all our team and working together with our suppliers, customers and partners, we can make a real difference and contribute to a greener, healthier and more sustainable future.
